About The Artist
Senior Artist Claire Mulleady
Like the shrubbery of her native England, Clair Mulleady is about no-nonsense, natural beauty. Growing up in a small town in the south of England, she loved the countryside but always longed to live in the big city. She moved to London when she was 18 to study photography before pursuing makeup and credits the city with providing endless inspiration throughout her career. It’s no surprise that working with the queen of British fashion, Vivienne Westwood, tops her list of career memories to date.
“The very first Vivienne Westwood show that I worked will always be present in my mind. Having been such a big fan, I was so excited to be backstage. The atmosphere was electric and the makeup was just an extraordinary pleasure to do. I feel like my work is really in the spirit of those designs. I like to create a sense of effortlessness, crafting a look that’s beautiful but in an unexpected way. For me beauty is about individuality and sometimes emphasizing features we often cover up. I grew up during the time of 90’s grunge and that has always had an influence on my work. Minimalism is something that I’m attracted to: it’s often about what we choose not to do, that makes a look.”
“I love to travel. My favourite place in the world is a friend’s cottage on a lake in Ontario, Canada. It is beautiful and serene. My standard travel kit includes M•A•C Lip Conditioner as I cannot live without it, Mineralize Concealer for a perfect complexion and In Extreme Dimension Lash, since what girl doesn’t want fluttery lashes? With these in tow you’ll always be relaxed and picture-perfect, because I love to capture everything on camera. From Man Ray to Paolo Roversi and Nick Knight, photography and travel are my two loves besides makeup, and I love to combine them both.”
“My favourite feature changes all the time but it mostly comes back to skin. Skin should look perfected but without too much coverage so that the natural beauty of the skin can shine through. I use Mineralize Concealer to even out the skin where needed. To add a beautiful luminosity, I mix Prep + Prime Essential Oils with Pearl Cream Colour Base for a sheer and healthy glow, touching on the high planes of the face. My best beauty advice is to drink lots of water every single day and keep skin hydrated with a good moisturizer. When your skin looks healthy everything else will just fall into place.”
